Ambra Trotto is the Design and Research Director at d.centre | EU. The centre collaborates with a regional, national, and international ecosystem to transform practices into sustainable ones through design, by initiating multi-actor synergies for sustainable futures.

Ambra is a senior advisor for the Digital Ethics initiative at RISE, where she sets the foundation for considering ethics in technology-driven transformations. She is a part of the Development Team for the Value-shaping System Design research area at RISE. Additionally, Ambra is an associate professor at the Umeå Institute of Design and a guest researcher at the Department of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology, collaborating with the Systemic Change research group. She is also a visiting professor at the University of Florence. Ambra's main focus is on empowering ethics through design, using digital and non-digital technologies. She works with various professionals, including makers, builders, craftsmen, dancers, and designers, to drive societal transformation. Her design research involves developing co-design methods to facilitate transdisciplinary design conversations. Ambra holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Florence and completed her doctoral thesis at Eindhoven University of Technology. Her expertise lies in design research, transformative practices, ethics, digital ethics, new craftsmanship, skills, design methods, and leadership. She has a special focus on sustainable innovation and tackling complex situations involving multiple actors and expertise.
