Györgyi Gálik, Dark Matter Labs
Györgyi Gálik is an innovation designer, design strategist, and environmental advocate based in London. She is currently the City Transitions Co-Lead at Dark Matter Labs. Previously, she held positions as the Head of Strategic Partnerships at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose and as a Lead Advisor and interim Head of Social Innovation at Design Council. With a PhD in Innovation Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art in London, her research focused on design and climate change.
Györgyi Gálik has extensive experience in designing and delivering research, innovation, and technology design projects across various sectors, including corporate, governmental, and non-governmental. She has worked with small startups, individual communities, large corporations, and local and national governments. Her work has received recognition and nominations for awards, including the Design Museum's 'Design of the Year 2014' Award in the Digital Category for the project Hello Lamp Post. She is an active speaker and curator, participating in conferences, workshops, and industry events on design, behavior change, and the climate crisis. She has spoken at prestigious events such as COP26, EPIC 2019, COP21, and the World Interaction Design Day. In addition, she has lectured at esteemed academic institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Rice University, Goldsmiths College, New York University, Concordia University, and the Spark Institute in Budapest.
