The European Creative Industry Summit (#ECIS) in Bilbao will raise questions about how we acknowledge and utilise innovation, particularly in the urgent context of transforming our planet towards environmentally-friendly, digital, and societal changes. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the value of traditional and local knowledge systems, heritage, and crafts in the fight for a green transition.

The Summit also highlights the need for decolonising innovation, which can promote more inclusive and equitable approaches to technology development. By fostering diverse and inclusive approaches to creativity and innovation, we can develop new ideas and technologies that better address the needs of society and the environment.

This ECIS will host the Official Presentation of EIT Culture & Creativity

Join us in the session of “An introduction to EIT Culture & Creativity”, the official presentation of EIT Culture & Creativity in the region.

Background

This session in Bilbao, under the ECIS framework, will be the continuity of the opening of the EIT Culture & Creativity Co-Location Centre (CLC) South West in Barcelona, that will gather the CCI ecosystem and policy makers of the region. The session will join the EIT Culture & Creativity Policy Club meeting and the CreativeFED Stakeholder Forum.

To synergise policies and policy makers across disciplines, EIT Culture & Creativity will convene its flagship initiative EIT Culture & Creativity Policy Club at #ECIS23_Bilbao. It supports innovation in frameworks, procurements and policies on local and regional level for the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries

The Policy Club seeks to promote awareness on the potential contributions of the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) across all policy domains. Today the CCSIs are often caught between two sides: they are not fitting either the CCIs - which are too business focused-, neither they fit into any policy – not the cultural policy nor the business policy. On top of that, CCIs are not perceived as relevant enough to address climate adaptation, social cohesion, or innovation. Therefore, the fully hidden potential of the CCSIs is not fully realized and not facilitated as real game changers for the 'Triple Digital, Green and Social Transition', in societal, administrative and political structures.

There is more to it!

The #ECIS23_Bilbao will be part of the Creativity and Innovation Tour 2023, a 3-day programme to dive deep into Creativity and Innovation, in a joint effort from the Co-Location Centre (CLC) South West of EIT Culture & Creativity, the Basque Government and the European Federation for Creative Economy (EFCE) or CreativeFED. This Creativity and Innovation Tour will be connecting Bilbao and Barcelona, two vibrant cities paving the way for a major transformation of the Cultural and Creative Sectors from the 25th to the 27th October 2023.
